New York Endurance Racing at its finest

The small town of Watkins Glen was DRENCHING!

It had probably been close to 17 years since the last time I was up in New York for a race at Watkins Glen. Which at the time was likely for a Nascar race, as back in the day my Dad & I used to be HUGE into Nascar. This time though was different!

I made my journey out to Watkins Glen from Ohio on Saturday morning bright & early after making a last minute phone call to Will Turner (Owner of the Turner Motorsport race team) to see about getting some tickets. Took the scenic drive up through a bunch of small towns, couldn’t tell you the ones I passed through to make it to the race! However, I did end up missing the GS race on Saturday which I heard was quite an eventful race!

I have become a huge fan of film photography lately, and after I found out that the movie car from F1 was going to be racing this weekend, I had to drop what I was doing and grab a roll to capture a picture of Sonny Hayes 24 Hour of Daytona car, the Peak Porsche! Which is actually operated uner Wright Motorsport, which is pretty rad to see some authentic cars partaking in the movie!

While I missed out on the chance to see the GS class run, I got to see the entire Lamborghini Super Trofeo race, which I hadn’t seen since 2024 down at the Battle of the Bricks in Indianapolis. Which, I am super excited to see the shots come back from the two film rolls that I had shot that weekend! 

This was something I have only down once before, traveling alone that is, which was pretty fun. I got to see what I wanted to see, which was the state park in downtown Watkins Glen! I also had the luxury of staying with some family friends so I just had to worry about getting to & from the track which wasn’t too bad! I did end up getting stuck in lot 5 on Saturday which was pretty funny. Had to have track services pull my truck out of the mud.
